Two modes of operation: one to detects any flow failure for pumps that must run 24/7. Another mode meant for controllers only gives an alarm when power is supplied to your pump or solenoid. The flow alarm senses power from your pump controller, then waits for 10 seconds for flow to become established. If no flow is detected after this time, then an alarm is given. The alarm is a very LOUD warbling audio alarm that cuts through any noise, and a flashing LED.
Pulsing flow from diagphragm pumps does not bother the unit. The circuit buffers the readings so fluctuations are filtered. After 10 (selectable) of no-flow, the unit responds with an alarm.
The FLOW ALARM uses a shuttle type switch to detect when the flowrate falls below 300 ml/min. The liquid impinges on the switch to physically move it so the magnets are detected by a reed switch.
During an alarm, the green button can be pushed to temporarily silence the alarm. An optional snooze-alarm feature sounds the alarm again after 30 mins
When there is no alarm condition the button serves to test the battery power and the circuitry. LED flashes and buzzer sounds while button is pushed.
For applications where flow must be maintained constantly the FLOW ALARM will alarm if there is no power or if there is low flow.
There is a jumper setting on the pcb that will reverse the logic and allow the Flow Alarm to give an alarm when flow is higher than 300 ml/min.
LOW BATTERY ALARM
The ultra-low power consumption allows, the included Lithium batteries to last for 10 years. If the battery voltage is low, an alarm sounds twice per minute.
The housing and shuttle are polypropyelene. There is a monel spring to push the shuttle in the "no flow" position so it can be mounted non-vertically.
- FA-3 is installed directly on your pipe. Piggyback power cord is 10 feet long. Waterproof.
- FA-4 is convenient when the AC power is a long distance from the flow switch. The electronics box is connected to teh flow switch by a 20 foot cable.
Modification can be done for installations using many different volatages such as 12VDC, 12VAC, 230VAC etc.
- Flow switch fitting size is 3/4" NPT. Can be adapted to 1/2" using reducing bushings. (included)
- Flow switch can be mounted in any orientation.
