PLASTIC VENT CAP

All-plastic mushroom style tank vent cap or tank breather cap is corrosion-proof. Allows containers to vent while keeping out rain, debris, airborne seeds, and insects. PVC body with polypropylene screen. Used for roof vent stacks, air intakes, machine cabinets that need venting, exhaust pipe, and more.

Available in standard NPT fitting sizes 1/2″ fitting size and larger in various mounts: male thread, female thread or slip fitting, and flange mounting by request. All sizes up to 6″ are always in stock.

The vent caps provide a means for the enclosure, or tank, to vent while providing a rugged protection of the screen inside.  The plastic vent caps have an open area of 40% of the pipe cross-sectional area. This wil introduce some reduction in air flow but is usually not a problem. Check the Technical Info page if this is a concern.

SCREEN SIZES

• 6″ and smaller sizes use polypropylene mesh 24 X 24 strands per inch.
• 8″ and larger use PVC sheet, 1/8″ thickness  with 1/8″ diameter holes. 

FDA regulations for potable water storage in tanks are on page 166 of the 2017 Food Code Requirements which require a 16 mesh screen.  In addition, the EPA has its own standards which are met with a 24 mesh screen.
