Power Failure Alarm mounted in a standard wall outlet guarantees your device is getting power.

PFA-4 Power Fail Alarm
Why its the best power fail alarm
  • Always on duty – ultra-low power consumption allows Lithium battery to last for 10 years or more.
  • Very loud alarm. 103dB (like a smoke detector)
  • Silence button with adjustable-time “snooze alarm”.
  • Installation is easy. Just install 9V battery.
  • Low Battery alarm. If the battery runs low, the Power Fail Alarm beeps and flashes to let you know.

  • Fail safe plug detection. Alarms if your plug comes out of the receptacle!
  • Pass-through design doesn’t take away an outlet.

The power outage alarm continuously monitors 120V AC power outlets and if there is an interruption, the LED flashes and a 103dB beeping alarm sounds to let you know. The alarm can be silenced by pushing the outside button.

A selectable “snooze alarm” feature will cause the alarm to sound again every 30 minutes until the fault is corrected.

Power Failure alarm with flash-light
PFA-4 with glow

Simple installation, just snap in the long-life lithium battery thats included. After that, you are protected for the next 10 years.

This is the only power outage alarm with a plug detection alarm.  If your plug becomes unplugged from the power fail alarm itself, this is detected electrically, and the alarm sounds.

Very loud beeping audio buzzer – 103dB at 2 ft will never be missed even in noisy factories.

Extremely low power consumption allows the lithium battery (included) to last up to 10 years**. Will alarm for 50 hours straight with the supplied Lithium battery. After that time, if battery power is low due to excessive alarming time, a low-battery warning alarm sounds for many weeks.

Flexible logic so it can detect millisecond blips, (useful for computer equipment) or only report power outages longer than 10 seconds. Optional mode for a 15-minute delay for either the audible alarm or auxilliary output.  This is set with switches inside the unit.

Plugs into a 120VAC wall outlet.

Same as PFA-1 but also includes a flashlight feature.  When power fails, a flashlight mounted in the bottom comes on to illuminate hallways.  Remember: when power fails there will probably be no other lighting.

Has the same operation and features as the PFA-1 but includes a relay output. Can be N.C. or N.O.  Relay output is a sustained contact close for the same duration as the power outage. Useful for connection to building alarm systems, connection to autodialers, or to turn on backup systems.

  • Maximum pass-through current 15A
  • Piezo buzzer volume 103 dB at 2 feet
  • Piezo buzzer diaphragm stainless steel
  • Operating temperature -40C to 65C
  • Box size 105 mm tall x 67deep x 55 wide
  • Polystyrene box material
  • Weight without battery 181g
  • Output contact closure N.O or N.C., 10A carry current.
  • Power consumption (idle) 11 micro-amps
  • Power consumption (alarm) 30 mA
  • Battery life (alarm state) 4 days

LHi, Peter – I have been meaning to drop you a note to let you know how pleased I am with the PFA-4. It is really an innovative and superior product! We are out in the country and lose power more than we’d like – and I knew it would serve well as the first indication not to open the freezers! Someday we will get a generator but so far that has not been in the budget. But until then, and even after, the PFA-4 is it. Reliable and audible. Thank you again! Best regards, Randall

Subject: Re: PFA-1 Thanks again Randall. May I use your feedback on my website? >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Peter – yes, absolutely! I also like the solid construction and clean circuitry inside. With all the game meats and farm dairy we have stored up, frozen or chilled, it’s easily already paid for itself! Cheers, Randall

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh boy...does it ever work!...yes!!- Reviewed in the United States on June 29, 2018 Ok, so you found the plug, now you say “dang, that’s crazy expensive...!”, and you’re right. Take a chance and you buy one because you’re tired of losing all your frozen food in the garage freezer cause the lightning storm last week knocked out your freezer and you did t know it until it smelled like roadkill in your garage. Package comes, you plug it in, and forget about it. Then one rainy afternoon, you hear a strange alarm sounding thing from your living room and say, “what the heck is that?!”...as you approach the garage, it’s gets louder and LOUDER...then all at once it hits you...”Holy smokes! It actually works, my freezer alarm is going off!”...this happens at least 4 times before the writing of this story and you then come to realize...yea, that dang plug alarm was really expensive but man, it’s already saved my freezer over 5 times! More than paying for the cost of replacing all the frozen goodies. The moral of the story is this thing is costly, but, after it saves all of your food time and time over, you’ll see your investment was made wisely. Buy it if you can relate to my story above!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, service, delivery Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2020 Verified Purchase The manufacturer, Gizmo, is a model for providing customer service. This PFA was needed to alert us to power going off to oxygen concentrator, especially at night when sleeping. Life and death issue. Set-up was simple: call Lisa at number provided on literature. Inserting 9V battery was no brainer. I did need a louder alarm than 102 decibels because of the arrangement of our home, location of bedroom, doors closed, and 83-years of age. I spoke with Engineer Peter. He instructed to return unit, and for $20 he would change to alarm of 108 decibels. This was done, installed with higher decibel alarm, unit works perfectly. If anyone has questions, call Lisa or Peter. They provide prompt assistance.

ChuckO 5.0 out of 5 stars Got this great alarm for our downstairs freezer. Reviewed in the United States on December 12, 2021 Verified Purchase Even though this product is in our basement connected to our freezer, it is loud enough to wake us up from a deep sleep when the power goes out. We do get a lot of power outages in the rural New England state that we live in, and keep a small fortune in frozen food products and this alarm works perfectly to notify us when a problem with the electricity at our freezer.

Motherof2 5.0 out of 5 stars Works great. Reviewed in the United States on June 28, 2017 Verified Purchase Works great. Has prevented us from losing our freezer contents again as we lost everything twice in the previous year. We also added a receptacle in the basement that is tied to the refrigerator circuit to keep from having to move the refrigerator out to reset the alarm when the power fails. Given that our power goes out frequently, it would be nice to have an on/off switch vs. taking the batteries out. You can hit the reset button but it will alarm again after a few minutes. 2 people found this helpful

5.0 out of 5 stars Great customer service Reviewed in the United States on February 3, 2019 Verified Purchase I just got this device and installed today so can't comment yet on its performance. But I certainly can comment on Gizmo Engineering's customer service. The lady I spoke with today gets an A+++++ grade from me.
